Cost Accountant

China, Shenzhen·Full-time·Remote-friendly

As we go from one product to many, the numbers have to be airtight. This team builds the financial backbone.

Your charter

Build the financial backbone a hardware company needs as it goes from one product to many.

Where you'll focus

Numbers & models

Own cost, cash, and the models that tell us where we stand and where we can go.

Unit economics

Partner with supply chain on landed cost and margin as we move from prototype to volume.

Controls & compliance

Keep us audit-ready and clean across mainland China and Hong Kong.

What you'll own

  • Own the numbers — cost, cash, and the models that tell us where we stand.
  • Build the financial plumbing a hardware company needs as it scales.
  • Partner with supply chain on unit economics and landed cost.
  • Keep us audit-ready across mainland China and Hong Kong.

What you bring

  • Several years in finance, accounting, or FP&A — ideally with physical product.
  • As comfortable in a factory cost sheet as in a board model.
  • Rigorous, fast, and allergic to sloppy numbers.
  • Fluent in Chinese and English.

Bonus points

  • Manufacturing or supply-chain finance background.
  • Cross-border, multi-entity experience.

Benefits

  • Compensation benchmarked to the best in robotics and AI, plus meaningful equity — build like an owner.
  • Health coverage for you and your family.
  • The hardware, compute, and tools the work demands — no penny-pinching on what matters.
  • Based in Shenzhen, Shanghai, or Hong Kong — or work fully remote.
  • Unusual ownership, and a front-row seat to a category being invented.

How we hire

We keep hiring short and human: a first conversation, a work session on a real problem, and time with the people you'd build alongside. We hire for taste and conviction over pedigree — if the work pulls at you, apply even if you don't tick every box.

About Somnia

Somnia builds intimacy robotics — presence you can hold, engineered end to end: the body, the intelligence, and the story we tell about her. Most of what we need doesn't exist yet, so we're inventing it. We hire for taste and conviction over pedigree, and we give people unusual ownership. (And yes — she/her. We mean it.)
