Privacy & Cookies
This notice explains how Somnia Lab ("Somnia", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects personal information when you use the Somnia website (the "Site") and interact with us as described below. Somnia Lab is the controller of the personal information described here.
Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information.
Personal information you provide to us.
- Contact and account information, such as your name, email address, and country — and, if you create an account, your account details.
- Communications you exchange with us, including when you contact us, sign up for updates, apply for a role, or submit a business enquiry.
- Application information, if you apply for a role — your contact details, links such as LinkedIn, salary expectation, and the résumé you upload.
Information collected automatically.
When you use the Site, we and our service providers may automatically collect information about your device and how you interact with the Site, including:
- Device and network data, such as your IP address, browser and device type, settings, and approximate location derived from your IP address.
- Usage data, such as the pages you view, the links you click, and the time and duration of your visits.
We collect this information using cookies and similar technologies — see the Cookies and Similar Technologies section below.
How We Use Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes.
To provide and operate the Site. To run the Site, respond to your enquiries and applications, operate the waitlist, and provide and secure your account.
To improve and develop. To understand how the Site is used and to improve and develop it.
Communications. To send you the updates you ask for and to respond to you. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in the email or by contacting us.
Legal and compliance. To comply with applicable laws, respond to lawful requests, enforce our terms, and protect our rights, our users, and the public.
Where the law requires a legal basis, we rely on your consent, the performance of a contract, our legitimate interests, or our legal obligations, as applicable.
How We Disclose Information
We share personal information with the following categories of third parties.
Service providers. Companies that process information on our behalf, under contract, to help us operate — including hosting (Vercel), database and file storage (Supabase), authentication (Clerk), transactional email (Resend), product analytics (PostHog), and error monitoring (Sentry).
Authorities and others. Law enforcement, regulators, and other parties where we believe in good faith it is necessary to comply with the law, respond to lawful requests, or protect our rights and the safety of others.
Corporate transactions. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganisation, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, as permitted by law.
We do not sell your personal information.
Privacy Choices
Marketing. You can opt out of marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link or by contacting us. We may still send you service-related messages, such as responses to your enquiries.
Your rights.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- delete your personal information;
- restrict or object to certain processing;
- receive a copy in a portable format; and
- withdraw your consent where we rely on it.
To exercise any of these, contact us through the Contact page. We may ask for information to confirm your identity. You may also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
How we use cookies. We use cookies and similar technologies for essential functions, such as keeping you signed in, and for analytics that help us understand and improve how the Site is used.
Managing cookies. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings and through any cookie controls we provide on the Site. Blocking some cookies may affect how the Site works.
Do Not Track. Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" signal. Because there is no common standard for responding to it, the Site does not currently respond to such signals.
Job Applicants
When you apply for a role, we collect the information in your application — your contact details, professional background and work history, and the résumé you upload — and use it to assess your application, communicate with you, and administer recruitment. We keep it as described in Data Retention, and may keep it to consider you for future roles unless you ask us not to.
International Data Transfers
Somnia operates across regions, and your information may be processed in countries other than your own — including the United States, where our service providers operate. Where we transfer personal information internationally, we take steps to protect it as required by applicable law.
Security of Your Information
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including access controls and encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described here, to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements, after which we delete or anonymise it.
Children's Information
The Site and its subject matter are for adults only. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this notice from time to time. The current version is always posted here. Where changes are material, we will take additional steps as required by law.
